Native of Inglewood, California Sione Tuihalamaka is proud of his Tongan heritage and has enjoyed an trans-sport athletic career between rugby and American football. As a free agent in the American Football League, Sione impressed scouts with his defensive abilities and played at defensive end. His athletic abilities were greatly developed during his time Junipero Serra high school where he helped propel their football program to multiple victories before later joining the Tempe Rugby Club while attending school in Arizona. With the dawn of American professional rugby in 2016, Sione joined with the San Diego Breakers before selection to the USA Islanders team in 2017 due to his Tongan heritage and played against the Saracens. Sione returned to San Diego with the Legion’s inaugural season in 2018 and looks forward to offering his hard-hitting style of play to the San Diegan defense.
