  • Won the Under-19 Southern California Championship in 2013 with the San Diego Mustangs RFC
  • Propelled St. Mary’s College to a third national D1A rugby championship in 2017
  • Named a USA Collegiate All-American in 2016 and 2017

Joining fellow Gael Dylan Audsley,  St. Mary’s alum Alec Barton will be representing the cream of the collegiate rugby crop with the Legion in the 2019 season. However, Barton’s ties to San Diego extend far beyond the city’s first professional rugby team. Barton joins Legion teammate Aaron Mitchell as a graduate of Cathedral Catholic high school and San Diego Mustangs rugby. With St. Mary’s rugby, Barton was named to an AIG Collegiate All-Americans squad which toured Australia in 2017 and his loose forward talents flourished under head coach Tim O’Brien. Barton’s defensive and turnover abilities with the Legion should be warning enough to those ball carriers unwise enough to run against him and his reliable ball carrying makes him a threat on offense as well.
